Even in these modern times, the stigma surrounding mental health is a major reason for people not to seek help or discuss their feelings.
New Zealand is no different from any other developed country in this regard.

Sadly, this statistic isn’t anything new for NZ. many reasons were listed for this shocking statistic, child poverty, family violence, and one of the highest bullying rates for school aged children were cited.
The rate is particularly high for young Maori and Pacifica males.
A finalist for the Loading Docs competition where three-minute thought provoking films are chosen to be screened selected a doc about a crisis trained barber who is attempting to engage males in the topic of mental health.
